Judge Stunned After Man With Suspended License Joins Zoom Hearing While Driving
- A man identified as Corey Harris attended a Zoom court hearing concerning his suspended license while he was actively driving
- Judge Cedric Simpson was visibly stunned, and he confirmed Harris' suspended license and revoked his bond
- Simpson revoked Harris' bond immediately and ordered him to turn himself in jail by 6 p.m.
A man was caught on video driving a car while virtually attending a Zoom court hearing over a suspended license.
Corey Harris from Michigan attended a hearing on May 15 for charges related to an earlier arrest.
Zoom court hearing shocker
In a video that has since gone viral, a call recording showed Harris joining while sitting in a moving car.
In the video, Judge Cedric Simpson, who appeared shocked, asked, "Mr Harris, are you driving?"
Harris replied:
"I'm pulling into my doctor's office, actually. Just give me one second."
As Harris parked the car on video, Simpson smiled and laughed in disbelief.
Once Harris was parked, Simpson confirmed that Harris "is a driver on a license suspended" who was just seen driving without a license.
When Simpson again clarified that he had no license, Harris' mouth opened, and he appeared to understand what he had just done on camera.
"I don't even know why he would do that," Simpson said after a pause before revoking Harris' bond and ordering that he turn himself into the Washtenaw County Jail by 6 p.m. that day, and failure to turn himself in would result in a bench warrant with no bond.
As Simpson was speaking and laying out his terms, Harris did not speak but appeared to have come to the grim realisation of what his driving without a license had just done.
