A lunar eclipse, also known as a "Blood Moon," is set to be experienced in Ghana on Sunday, September 7.
The phenomenon occurs when the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow across the lunar surface.

The "Blood Moon" is set to be witnessed across many continents, including Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa.
According to TimeandDate.com, a popular website focused on time zone information and astronomical and meteorological events, the lunar eclipse will be experienced by 85 per cent of the world's population.

Details on the September 7 eclipse
The website, while looking at key times of the lunar eclipse, indicated that the total eclipse will begin at 5:30 PM GMT and will be visible at 6:11 PM local time, where the Moon will adopt a reddish hue, often labelled as a "blood moon."
It added that the final stage, where the Moon leaves the Earth's shadow, will end at 8:55 PM local time.
The entire duration for the eclipse, according to the website, will last for 2 hours and 53 minutes.

According to the website, the upcoming lunar eclipse will be visible in the nation's capital, Accra, as well as other parts of the country.
This is the second lunar eclipse of 2025 that many around the world will experience.
The first one was on March 14, 2025, when many African countries witnessed a partial lunar eclipse.
