In the video shared on social media, a group of men stopped the long-truck at Free Zones, transporting two huge containers with only a dog chain to secure them at the back of the truck.
More concerns arose when it was disclosed that the vehicle had earlier passed through a checkpoint of the Free Zones authority toll booth and was not compounded over the security concern.
Long-truck uses dog chains to hold containers
As could be seen in the video, one of the containers appeared to have drifted to the side, away from the fixed position, with the dog chain providing no support whatsoever. The men decided to document the moment on camera.
They shared the devastating road accident it would have caused on the busy road of Free Zones if it were not captured by the concerned citizens. The carelessness of long-truck drivers and the lack of concern have been major contributors to road accidents in Ghana.
One of the men at the scene said:
"This is a long vehicle we just found on Free Zones. I was very much surprised that even at the toll booth they didn't notice this. This is a death trap. This could easily cause an accident. How can this even be allowed?"
