The young lady, identified as Preye, weighed in on the conversation involving the Abossey Okai’s 3-day ultimatum given to foreign retailers, especially Nigerians in the area.

This call for the removal has been a pileup of months of reactions from many Ghanaians to sack Nigerians and Igbos following the Ibo King controversy.

On Monday, September 8, 2025, some spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai in Accra issued a warning to foreign dealers at the enclave to close down and vacate their shops or risk being forcefully evicted.

Their outcry came after many local traders accused Nigerians of selling their goods at cheaper prices, claiming they have easier access to imported goods, superior capital-raising avenues, and, in some instances, evade taxes.

Commenting on this, Preye pointed out by asking her followers if there had been any instances or cases of Ghanaians in Nigeria publicly crying out online about ill treatment they have received from the country's citizens.

In her words:

"How many Ghanaians in Nigeria can come to social media and say Nigerians mistreated them?"

She went on to share the moment Chief Chukwuemeka Levi Nnaji, the former Nigeria Union of Traders Association, Ghana (NUTAG) President, reacted to the Abossey Okai dealers controversy.

She also noted that despite the illegal businesses and criminal activities some Ghanaians in Nigeria get themselves involved in, no Nigerians have released a public outcry to chase anyone away from the nation.

She lamented, saying:

"Our people are going through hell in Ghana. I don't know where they said they have made the peace they claimed. People are suffering. People's shops are being closed allegedly. They say Nigerians cannot sell retail. That they should be doing just wholesale."
"This is nothing but a carnivorous behaviour," she added.

Abossey Okai traders deny price hike claims

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that some spare parts dealers debunked claims that Abossey Okai traders had inflated prices despite purchasing stock before the cedi’s recovery.

According to a trader, his items before the dollar drop had also been discounted, citing fairness and the need to support everyday Ghanaians.

He urged fairness from all sides, noting that if the government was helping to stabilise the economy, traders should ease consumer pressure.
