“Stop Protecting People Who Must Be Prosecuted”: Fiifi Kwetey Cautions NDC Lawyers
- The General Secretary of the NDC, Fiifi Kwetey, has cautioned lawyers of the party to stop pleading for former public officials who must be prosecuted

Fiifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has warned lawyers of the party who are protecting people who must be prosecuted for wrongdoing to desist from such.
The General Secretary said Ghanaians voted for the NDC, so they will move the country to a better place, and also prosecute anyone who has done wrong while in public office.

In a video on X, Fiifi Kwetey said some lawyers are trying to plead on behalf of some former government officials who must be prosecuted.

“If it is to be done, it must be done well. If it’s to be done well, it means it must be thoroughly done. The job must be properly done. You are the lawyers, and so you should know. You cannot, in one breath, be making proclamations that are condemning the people on the other side while you are part of the people who want to subvert the same law in the same constitution. You should be the first point to ensure that things are done properly. That is the only way we can establish a society that will be truly great and strong.”
“The pressure is mounting, and we at the level of the party are picking up the signals. That many among us, despite the pressure coming from the public that things have to be done properly, some among us are busy trying to cut deals with people who are supposed to be prosecuted,” he added.

EOCO arrests and detains Chairman Wontumi
YEN.com.gh reported that the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, was arrested by the EOCO.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office arrested him after he reported for questioning on Tuesday, 27 May 2025.
Chairman Wontumi's arrest was reportedly linked to a $55 million fraud matter allegedly involving his company, Akonta Mining.
