He claimed the police suspected that some government officials were leaking information to him.

The NPP Bono Regional Chairman further alleged that the police asked him to provide the location of some 15 houses he purportedly owns.

However, Abronye DC said he told them that if they were able to locate these residences, he would donate all of them to the state.

Police question Abronye DC about his properties

According to Abronye DC, who spoke on Onia TV, the police questioned him on his two companies and whether he had used them to secure a government contract.

He said the companies have been in operation for over nine years without securing a single contract.

Despite his ordeal in the hands of the police, the outspoken politician has vowed never to be silenced.

"The NDC government cannot silence me because of my mouth. When Tetteh Yohuno came to arrest me, the first thing they demanded was my mobile phone so they could track my information.

NPP youth decry intimidation by authorities

Reacting this in an interview with YEN.com.gh, Nabil Abubakar, a member of the Action Movement for Bawumia 2028, stated that the treatment of Abronye DC exemplified the weaponisation of state institutions for political purposes.

He claimed that the police were exceeding their constitutional mandate by using intimidation tactics to silence critical voices within the NPP.

Abubakar suggested that the questioning of Abronye DC about his personal assets was an attempt to portray him as corrupt, despite potentially weak charges.

He warned that this trend of targeting political opponents and undermining the rule of law posed a threat to democracy and freedoms.

The young politician urged Ghanaians to resist the politicisation of security agencies, emphasising its detrimental impact on the country's democracy.

"The ordeal of Abronye DC clearly shows how state institutions are being weaponised for political purposes. The police appear to be going beyond their constitutional mandate, using intimidation tactics to silence critical voices within the NPP. Demanding his phone and questioning him about his personal assets is a clear attempt to paint him as corrupt, knowing very well that the charges against him may not hold in court," he said.
"This is not just about Abronye, it is about a dangerous trend where political opponents are targeted and the rule of law is undermined. As a country, we must resist this politicisation of security agencies because it weakens democracy and threatens our freedoms," he added.
