In President John Mahama's latest reshuffle, she was nominated as Minister of State for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
Speculation was that she would be given the long-vacant Defence Minister portfolio.
The President instead reassigned Kenneth Gilbert Adjei to the Ministry of Defence from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
This left some Ghanaians online disappointed, who questioned the president's judgement.
"Eeeeei so what about the founder's girl," one person remarked about Adjei's transfer.
"I don't like the way the President is doing his reshuffling. Zanator would have been best as Defence Minister."
Others also criticised Adjei's performance at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
"What did he do at works and housing ministry that he is taking over defence ministry which is very crucial position in the country."
"We did not see much of him in the ministry of housing we hope he would perform well this time."
"Also that works and housing minister hasn't done anything in the water sector, to be promoted to that highly sensitive substantial ministry of defence. Water crisis is worse now than before NDC came to power."
"His scorecard at works and housing ministry is below average. Fact."
