A Nakuru man has wowed Kenyans after sharing beautiful photos of the beautiful bungalow he recently completed building after starting the journey two years ago.
Mwangi, from Gilgil, narrated how his journey to becoming a homeowner began in 2022 and had taken every ounce of his patience, resilience, and dedication to come true.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, he said he achieved this milestone after deciding to set aside KSh 30-40k every month, which he used to erect the three-bedroomed house from the ground.
"I gave myself a target of savings. I would put aside KSh 30,000 or 40,000. I used these savings to prepare the land and purchase materials such as cement, sand, and bricks to start the construction," he said.
Mwangi said building the house's exterior took a year before embarking on the finishings, which he said were more expensive.
"Building the house from the ground up only cost me around KSh 450k. It took me a year, and for the past one year till now, I have been doing the finishings and I am happy because the project is complete," he said.
Mwangi's house has a unique hidden roof, giving it a modern touch, which was the aesthetic he was going for when he began the journey. The entire project cost him KSh 900,000.
"This journey has taken me patience, which is the advice I would give anyone looking to be a homeowner. Have a savings plan and also be patience as the project takes shape. Though I have already moved into my house, I am still furnishing it with modern furniture, and it is another process altogether," he said.
Kenyans celebrate Mwangi
When Mwangi started building the bungalow in 2022, he shared pictures of the beginning stages of the process on the popular Facebook group Dream Home and Building Forum.
He recently inspired many after making an update of the completed project. Many congratulated him for a job well done:
