Krepin Diatta: Senegal AFCON player suffers mockery over his looks and skin colour from Africans

Senegal and Club Brugge forward, Krepin Diatta, has fought back against mockery of his looks especially from Africans who have taken to social media to poke fun at his skin colour and other physical features.

A striker currently featuring for Senegal in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019), Krepin Diatta, has taken exception to a flurry of social media activity that has targeted his skin colour and looks.

After coming to wide African notice perhaps with the goal of the tournament so far when Senegal beat Tanzania, Diatta has been the subject of inhumane comparisons on social media.

The most interesting thing about what he has been hit with is that he's been most attacked by Africans who are exhibiting colourism.

Diatta who is 20-year-old and plies his trade in Belgium for Club Brugge, issued a statement bemoaning the "racism" and the "mockery of my brothers" he has had to endure.

Diatta noted:“I need your encouragement & not your insults. Thank you to everyone who supports me. Only God makes my strength and I am proud of my physical person. Your mockery won't change anything in my life. But one thing is for sure, we are all African."

The young man's response has gingered a growing call out of social media bad faith actors who hitherto mocked him.
