Victor Osimhen is close to leaving Napoli after four successful seasons.

The Nigerian superstar has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, with Chelsea the leading contender for his signature.

The 25-year-old has scored many goals and won trophies at the club, leaving with a legacy almost similar to that of Diego Maradona.

Maradona's numbers at Napoli

The late Maradona is regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history. The best spell of his career was when he played for Napoli from 1984 to 1991.

He brought unparalleled success to the club during that period. He helped his team win two Scudetti, a UEFA Cup, a Coppa Italia, and an Italian Super Cup, per These Football Times. He also won the Serie A Golden Boot in 1988.

As a Napoli player, Maradona produced iconic performances at the 1986 World Cup, which Argentina won.

He left the club after scoring 115 goals for Napoli. In his first four seasons at the club, he bagged 68 goals and provided 34 assists in all competitions.

Maradona's legacy in football has been felt on every corner of the globe. His influence was greater than his stats and by acclamation, he is one of if not the best footballers to touch a football.

Osimhen's stats at Napoli

The 25-year-old striker joined Napoli in 2020 from French side Lille and is just hitting his prime.

He arrived with huge expectations and had more than exceeded them. In the 202/23 campaign, he led them to their first league title since the Maradona days, their first in 33 years.

That season, The Super Eagles star produced his best campaign at the Partenopei. He bagged 31 goals in 39 matches, 26 in Serie A and five in the Champions League. he also became the first African to win the Serie A Golden Boot.

In his four seasons at the club, Osimhen has registered 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 matches. When he departs Napoli, he leaves as a legend.

Napoli boss' update on Osimhen

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Napoli director Giovanni Manna provided an update on the future of Osimhen.

Manna confirmed that Osimhen wants to leave, and they are working together to resolve the matter.
