Man United fired Erik ten Hag on Monday, October 28, after a poor run of results in the 2024/25 season.

The Dutchman was in his third season at the club, but the controversial 2-1 defeat to West Ham last Sunday was the last straw.

Man United hire Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have handed Amorim a contract until 2027 with an option for an extra year.

The young Portuguese has spent most of his coaching career in Portugal, but his spell at Sporting CP has caught the eye of top clubs.

He joined Sporting in 2020 and has led them to two Portuguese Primeira Liga titles. This season, they have won all nine games in the leagues, scoring 30 goals.

The 20-time champions will pay Sporting 12 million Euros to acquire the services of Amorim.

Who will shine under Amorim?

In another report, YEN.com.gh also reported that Man United legend Jaap Stam said Matthijs De Ligt will thrive under Amorim.

The Premier League winner stressed that Amorim's three-at-the-back style suits the new signing, who has made an indifferent start to his career in England.
