Date for Partey's second court appearance
With the former Arsenal man set to show up in court, another twist has emerged. His scheduled hearing at the Old Bailey was unexpectedly adjourned, with no explanation offered by the court.
According to The Telegraph, a new date has now been set. The Ghanaian midfielder is due to reappear at the Southwark Crown Court instead of the Central Criminal Court on September 15.
The change of schedule brings some relief for the 32-year-old, who is also preparing for a crucial international duty with the Black Stars.
Reports indicate he has already touched down in Accra and is expected to join the four-time African champions' training camp immediately.
Journalist Kelvin Owusu reports this on X:
The development aligns with the Ghana Football Association’s confidence that Partey will be available for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Communications Director Henry Asante Twum reaffirmed the midfielder’s commitment.
“Thomas will be with us, he will be here on time. We have spoken to him and his handlers and they have assured us that he will be in camp on time to join us for the trip to N’Djamena.
"So we are expecting him to arrive in camp and join the rest of the team for the first game as well as the second game on Monday, September 8,” Twum told 3Sports.
Head coach Otto Addo, having had assurances from Partey's camp, had named him in the 24-man squad for back-to-back fixtures against Chad and Mali.
Ghana travel to N’Djamena on September 2, the same day as his original court date, before facing Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Deby Itno. The Black Stars will then host Mali in Accra on September 8, per Ghanafa.org.

With Ghana currently leading Group I, victories in both games could put them within touching distance of the 2026 World Cup.
Interestingly, just a day after his rescheduled court hearing, Partey is set for a high-profile club assignment with Villarreal against Tottenham Hotspur on September 16.
That clash would mark his first appearance on English soil since the charges were brought against him.
Partey receives support from Villarreal president
In an earlier report, YEN.com.gh highlighted that Villarreal president Fernando Roig has thrown his support behind Thomas Partey as the midfielder battles a legal case in the UK.
The 78-year-old club chief appealed to the Yellow Submarine faithful to withhold judgment until the matter reaches its conclusion.
