UEFA introduces Champions League squad rules
Ahead of the commencement of the 2025/26 UCL, UEFA have confirmed that these Champions League sides, Europa League participants, as well as Conference League teams can now adjust their squads during the group stage.
On Thursday, September 11, the governing body announced that an amendment to the 2025/26 men’s club competition regulations will permit the temporary replacement of one outfield player in cases of long-term injury or illness, with changes allowed up until matchday six of the league phase.
The change was introduced to prevent squad lists from being unfairly depleted and to protect players from added workload pressures.
According to Football Espana, UEFA have also revealed that the 2027 Champions League final will take place at Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium, which previously staged Liverpool’s triumph against Tottenham in 2019.
