Harry Kane’s potential return to Tottenham Hotspur may be closer to reality than many think, despite the England captain reportedly enjoying his time at Bayern Munich.
The 32-year-old striker is said to have a £56.7 million release clause that could be triggered at the end of the season, sparking concerns in Germany that Kane might leave the Bundesliga champions in 2026.

Harry Kane could return to Tottenham
Earlier reports revealed that Kane’s contract with Bayern Munich, which runs until 2027, included a £67 million release clause active during the summer.
With Kane choosing to remain at the German club, the clause was initially inactive. However, recent reports suggest that it will reduce to £57 million next summer, opening the door for a possible move.
Meanwhile, according to The Telegraph, there is a growing concern in Germany that Kane could depart Bayern once the next release clause takes effect, as per Chris Cowlin.
While he is said to be extremely happy in Bayern Munich, a return to the Premier League is not off the table. For the clause to be activated, Harry Kane must formally notify Bayern of his intentions before the end of January 2026, though at present, he appears settled in Germany.
Tottenham, meanwhile, reportedly retain a first-option agreement on Kane as part of the deal that brought him to Bayern Munich in 2023.
This clause would only be applicable if Bayern Munich agreed to sell the striker and he expressed a desire to return to Spurs, as cited by Bayern & Germany on X.
Moreover, several factors could tempt Kane back to north London, including the departure of executive chairman Daniel Levy, the potential for improved wages, and the opportunity to chase the Premier League goalscoring record.
Since winning his first trophy with Bayern in their Bundesliga triumph earlier this year, Kane has been focused on adding more silverware, particularly in the Champions League.
According to Transfermarkt, the England star has scored a remarkable 98 goals in 103 appearances, suggesting he could continue to make a significant impact for the German giants if he stays.
