US President Joe Biden has endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, for the 2024 White House race.
On Sunday, July 21, Biden announced his decision not to seek re-election after weeks of pressure from Democrats.
What Joe Biden said about Kamala Harris
A few minutes after dropping out of the race, Biden endorsed Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate in the upcoming election.
Biden rallied other Democrats to support Harris, saying it was time for the party to unite and defeat Donald Trump.
"My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President.
"And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats - it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this," Biden said.

As YEN.com.gh reported earlier, Biden has declared that he would not seek re-election, stating that this decision was in his party's and the country's best interest.
In a statement, the 81-year-old, who is set to serve out his term as president, expressed that leading the country was the most incredible honour of his life.
Biden's move comes after intense pressure from fellow Democrats, especially after a challenging debate against the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, in June.
