Renowned Ghanaian Mathematician Professor Francis Allotey is reported dead.
The renowned Mathematician reportedly passed away in the late hours of Thursday following a short illness.
Prof. Allotey is widely celebrated for his in-depth knowledge when it comes to mathematical questions, and has received acknowledgement for his feat both locally and internationally.
He was born at Saltpond in the Central Region, and had his education at the Ghana National College before flying abroad to further it.
He later enrolled at the University Tutorial College, London Borough Polytechnic and London Imperial College of Science and Technology in the early 1960s.
Prof Allotey was always held in high esteem in Ghana, and was appointed to several top posts during his youthful years.
He has also served as chairman of some big companies in the country, including the Atomic Energy Commission, the Ghana Technical Committee on Nuclear Energy and the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Prof. Allotey died at age 85 after failing to recover from a short ailment.
