Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah is lacing his boots to contest the Asante Akyem North parliamentary seat in the next general elections.

According to him, he had decide to contest the seat as a way of contributing his thoughts and support for the progress of his constituency and Ghana at large.

Speaking in an interview on Atinka FM, Mr All 4 Real, as he is also known, stated that he had become more convinced to join politics because many critical issues in the country are often neglected by the mainstream politicians.

He said, “I’m a politician, I love politics, I know whatever is happening in politics and I follow a lot of things so now Ofori Amponsah the politician has just shown up. I’ll contest for Member of Parliament in my constituency… I don’t like MUSIGA, I’m heading to parliament direct in 2020. I’m serious about this parliamentary ambition because politics is something we can all contribute our quota to help change the dynamics in our country and constituency.

“I believe one day it’s a possibility because the way I perceive things happening in this country, makes me sad sometimes so if I’ve what it takes to help change situations why not… I’ve a lot of ideas. I can state emphatically that leadership is commonsense and not rocket-science or about your educational qualifications. Someone who hasn’t gotten to this status can even do better than the one with high pedigree", he added.

Explaining how he was going to contest, the Highlife superstar was emphatic that he was not going to contest as independent candidate but failed to specify which political party he would choose.

"I’ll not go independent as candidate, I’ll choose either NDC or NPP… I’ve already decided on which party’s ticket I’ll run in 2020 but I’m hiding it for now”, he said.

The award-winning artiste who burst onto the scene in 1999 through a collaboration with Daddy Lumba hails from Asante Agogo, the capital of the constituency.

It is not known politically active he is but YEN.com.gh can only wish him well.
