Some of the drivers who stormed the studios of Accra-based Adom TV accused the police officer of extorting monies ranging from Ghc200 to Ghc1,800 with the help of a sanitation court judge.

In an interview with Adom TV reporter, the PRO of the drivers, Yaw Barima called on President Akufo-Addo to sack Corporal Kamidu Yakubu at the Nima Police with immediate effect.

“Police Corporal Kamidu extorts GhC 200 from us before taking any matter to the Nima Police Division. He says he has his own judge at the drivers’ court, therefore when you are sent there you’re forced by the judge to pay GHc1, 200,” the PRO alleged.

Yaw Barima stressed that they have petitioned the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards (PIPS), about the conduct of the police officer for disciplinary action but nothing has been done.

The drivers are therefore demanding the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action against the corrupt Nima police officer.
