Two men said to be part of the security team at the Jubilee House have reportedly been arrested for armed robbery and rape.
The two are said to have been arrested by the East Legon Police in Accra in.conncetion some robbery incidents in the area last Sunday in which they allegedly robbed and raped victims including a 75-year-old woman.
MyNewsGH reported that it had confirmed.that the suspects were indeed workers at the Presidency who were specifically recruited by Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda, a security aide to President Nana Akufo-Addo, to man security gates.
The report identified one of the robbers as Issah Muniru whose identity card number is FSH/TEMP/18/134 and is a member of the operations team.
The report further stated that Captain Koda, who has for a long time been in charge of Akufo-Addo's private security detail, had already been to the East Legon Police Station to have the young men released to him “for internal punishment and disciplining.”
The arrest of the two will not be the first embarassing security situation at the Jubilee House since Akufo-Addo took office in 2017.
It will be recalled that in the early days of the administration, some members of the New Patritoic Party's (NPP) vigilante groups were seen in a video attacking a police officer stationed at the Flagstaff House as it was then known.
In December 2017, YEN.com.gh reported the arrest of a fake presidential staffer who had defrauded many people under the guise of working at the Jubilee House.
The suspect, Nii Afade, actually had convinced some of the victims by meeting with them at the precincts of what is expected to be a tight security zone.
