Sarkodie begged me to produce him - Shatta Wale

Multiple award-winning dancehall act, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known in the world of showbiz as Shatta Wale has revealed that rapper Sarkodie once begged him (Shatta Wale) to be produced.

Speaking in a wide-ranging interview on Accra-based Joy FM Friday morning, Shatta Wale said that Ghana's fastest rapper, Sarkodie, was no match for him because he (Sarkodie) even once begged to be produced.

In taking a dig at the 'Can't Let You Go' singer, Shatta Wale said Sarkodie was still in school when he (Shatta Wale) was doing music so he had be be accorded respect for his experience in the music industry.

Shatta Wale went on to indicate that Sarkodie was a hypocrite when it came to matters of promoting his fellow Ghanaian artistes.

The 'Dem Confuse' singer alleged that Sarkodie accepted 'chicken change' to play gigs in Europe but was charging outrageous fees for shows in Ghana.

He also bemoaned the rate at which Sarkodie treated foreign acts different from the way he treated Ghanaian acts. Shatta Wale used his 'Megye Wo Girl' song with the rapper as case study.

In reacting to the 'Advice' song that was directed at him, Shatta Wale indicated that he was not going to reply the 'diss' song because he was a dancehall act and had no business 'beefing' a rapper.

He however challenged Sarkodie to buy a new car to prove he was rich because he had personally done so on his birthday as he released a Mercedes Benz with a customized license plate.

Shatta Wale said that he customized his cars to show that he owned them unlike many artistes in Ghana he knew where driving cars they had 'borrowed' from others.

The dancehall act when questioned about his spirituality, said he believed in God and was very sure that success only came from above. He however confessed to have used juju before but noted it did not give him what he was looking for.

Shatta Wale went on to tout himself as the 'Noah of our time' and said he had built an ark and was waiting to accommodate people who were 'lost'. in addition, he said that he had been sent by God to save people and bring them back to heaven.

The outspoken dancehall act revealed that his proposal to Michy during the launch of the Reign album was not fake and went on to say that they were going to get married in 2019.
