Top NPP, NDC members invested $2m and $3m in Menzgold – Report claims

- Reports have revealed that the total number people who invested with Menzgold was 1.8m

- Top politicians mainly from the NDC and NPP are said to be part of the investors

- Menzgold customers in Kumasi staged a violent demonstration against the company defying police order

YEN.com.gh has gathered that the embattled Menzgold Company Limited had 1.8 million customers.

According to a report sighted by YEN on Ghanaweb.com, these 1.8m were made up of top politicians in both the NDC and NPP.

They reportedly include young people in both political parties who have strong academic and business backgrounds .

The report stated that they invested $2m and $3m into the ‘fake’ gold hub.

Though the report was silent on the names of these individuals, it disclosed that some of them were “lawyers and should have known better.”

These are part of the many pensioners, retired security service personnel, and other ‘ordinary’ Ghanaians who also have investments with Menzgold.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that some aggrieved Menzgold customers in Kumasi went on a demonstration against the company.

They had defied police orders to postpone the demonstration and staged a violent one on Tuesday, January, 8, 2019.

They reportedly blocked roads and burned tyres causing chaos in the metropolis.

Following the demonstration, the police arrested three people.
