Menzgold customers hail NAM1 as a hero; chant for his freedom (video)

- An Accra High Court has granted Menzgold boss Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM1 a one billion Cedi (GHC1bn) bail

- The bail was granted when NAM1 appeared before the court on Friday, July 26, 2019

- Arriving in court amid heavy police escort, NAM1 was hailed as hero by Menzgold customers who chanted for his freedom

Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah has been granted an Accra High Court on Friday, July 26, 2019.

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, the court presided over by Jane Helen Akweley Quaye granted a bail of one billion Cedis (GHC1bn) with five sureties, three of whom must be justified.

Appearing at the court for his hearing in the midst of heavy police escort, NAM1 was treated like a hero.

The customers of Menzgold who have had their monies locked up as a result of the closedown of the company besieged the court this morning, calling for NAM1’s release.

Upon seeing many NAM1, many customers who held placards with various inscriptions started screaming “free NAM1, he is our hero”.

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, NAM1 was arrested at the Kotoka Airport earlier in July 2019 after he arrived from Dubai.

NAM1 has been charged with two counts of abetment to defraud by false pretence and two counts of abetment to carry out banking business without a licence, contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).

Meanwhile, a video of NAM1 dancing happily to Tekno's Diana has popped up following his bail.
