Story of how Ghanaian firm Kinapharma with 1,000 employees started with just 1 shop in Kumasi told

- Kinapharma, one of the most successful medicine manufacturing companies in Ghana started with only 1 pharmacy at Kejetia in Kumasi

- This was when Kofi Nsiah-Poku who was then a teaching assistant at KNUST, chose to do something for himself

- Now the whole Kinapharma group has over 1,000 employees and worth hundreds of millions of dollars

Kinapharma Group, one of indigenous Ghanaian medicine manufacturing companies started at Kejetia in the Ashanti Region with only one pharmacy shop back then.

In a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on the company's website, Kofi Nsiah-Poku, the CEO, started Kinapharma with just one pharmacy shop at Kejetia whiles working as a teaching assistant at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

21 years later, the products manufactured would increase until the current 154 and counting. The staff grew from three to the current 560 including 24 pharmacists and in total, over 150 members of staff with at least a Bachelor’s Degree. This is for the pharmaceutical section only.

Most recently, the CEO of the group, Kofi Nsiah-Poku, added another huge business to the group called HealthiLife which is arguably the largest indigenous privately owned and managed food manufacturing facility in the country.

HealthiLife was built at an estimated 40 million dollars and has become a contract manufacturing concern for some of the world’s biggest multinational drink brands.

It all started back at KNUST when Kofi Nsiah-Poku who was then a teaching assistant, decided to start up one pharmacy called Kinapharma with the little funding he had.

Meanwhile, Joel Duncan-Williams is the third child of renowned Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams who is also the head pastor of his church which is mainly a youth ministry.

In a biography sighted by YEN.com.gh on the official website of the Africa Business & Kingdom Leadership Summit, it is indicated that Joel's ministry is called the Firm Foundation Action Church.

It is indicated that the Firm Foundation Action Church was given to Rev. Joel under the instruction of the Archbishop himself.
