Sekyere Amankwah: Kumawood actor speaks on death rumours; explains funeral poster

Kumawood actor, Sekyere Amankwah, has denied viral reports on social media announcing his death.
In an audio recording stumbled upon by YEN.com.gh, Amankwah has indicated that he is neither dead and nor even sick as being rumoured.
According to Amankwah, who was speaking colleague actor, Joe Shortingo on phone, he is currently on a location filming a new TV series.
Reports went viral on social media on Monday, September 28, 2020, that Amankwah had passed away.
The reports were started by a funeral poster with the actor's image on it which had surfaced online earlier n the day.
YEN.com.gh reported on how the funeral poster had got a section Ghanaians on social media were reacting.
In our report, we made it clear that the poster looked more like a promotional tool for an upcoming movie.
True to our suggestion, Amankwah explained in his chat with Shortingo that the poster was part of a scene in the series he was filming.
Somehow, the graphic designer who was hired to design the poster put the photo on social media and it has since gone viral.
Amankwah wondered why people would assume he is dead when no one has heard of him being sick or suffering any ailment.
He asked Shortingo, who had called to check it if the rumours were true, to disregard them and also thanked him for seeing the need to find out for himself.
In other news, Barbara Tommey, the US-based Ghanaian who was killed by her husband, Pastor Sylvester Ofori, has been laid to rest.

A video from the funeral has shown Ghana's Ambassador to the US, Baffour Adjei Barwuah, among the mourners.
