Alicia Keys turned 40 on Monday, 25 January and celebrated her birthday over the weekend with family and friends.
The singer-songwriter was showered with love by those closest to her and she made special mention of her hubby, Swizz Beatz, who she said was the "best husband in the galaxyyyyyy!!!!!!!"
Alicia shared some snippets of the activities she got up to while marking the milestone and posted them for her followers on social media to see.
The star uploaded a series of snaps and videos to social media and made sure that each caption she penned was about gratitude to all those who made her 40th so special.
Alicia posted some footage of her birthday party which showed her guests having dinner and dancing on a beach while watching fireworks and listening to live music.
She also wrote that the party was only the first bit of her celebrations as her caption began by explaining that it was, "The most magnificent start to my big birthday!!!" and also thanked fans for being part of it from afar:
"And endless love to my gorgeous AK Fam for all your love through the years! I’m in heaven! What a night!!"
The hitmaker continued by sharing a video of herself on a boat in the ocean and really feeling the birthday love.
She also made a number of special mentions of her hubby, Swizz Beatz, and posted another series of snaps of herself celebrating throughout the birthday weekend with her man.
Birthdays are often a time for reflection and Alicia added in one of her captions that there were two things she'd like to leave fans with after celebrating her milestone:
"What a weekend!!! I’m so blessed! Beyond words! Thank you to everyone for your sweet wishes, beautiful sentiments and all the love you spread celebrating my BIG bday today!! I’ll never forget it! 2 things I want to share....
~Don’t hold back your joy!! Period! Live and breathe it, in all the small and big ways!
~Don’t let ANYONE tell you romance is dead...
One day I’ll tell you the whole story of this weekend ... My love.... honestly I’m speechless. You really love me huh?? I ADORE you! Thank you for ALWAYS showing me that I’m the most important thing in the Galaxy to you."
In other birthday news, YEN.com.gh reported on the world-famous Dolly Parton celebrating her 75th birthday and calling for people to be kind to one another.
Dolly Parton recently celebrated her 75th birthday. The iconic performer is recognised all over the world and has awards from every corner of the entertainment industry to her name.
Her bright blonde hair and Southern twang have a remarkably disarming charm about them and might make her appear whimsical, but Dolly remains a driven career-woman, loving wife and devoted humanitarian.
Dolly posted a throwback photograph of herself from earlier days in entertainment and wrote a caption that expressed how her birthday wish was a call to kindness. Dolly wrote:
"Thank you for all of the love on my birthday. This year my wish is a call for kindness. We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day. Love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear. We have to work to dig it out so we can share it with our family, our friends and our neighbours. So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love."
Dolly showed her kindness to humanity as the star gave her support, and money, to coronavirus research. Just after the Covid-19 crisis had been declared a pandemic, Dolly donated $1 million dollars to Vanderbilt University's research into the virus.
The university's research was directly involved in the development of the Moderna vaccine, which has had an incredibly high success rate against the virus.
The country singer's donation, which amounts to more than R15 million, was vital in the latest attempt at combatting the virus that threw the world into its current health crisis. The world is certainly lucky to have had Dolly Parton for a whole 75 years.
