Sonnie Badu: Gospel Singer Pleads with Akufo-Addo to Rename KIA After Rawlings
- Gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has proposed to President Akufo-Addo to rename the Kotoka International Airport after the late former president Jerry John Rawlings
- He said this would go a long way to honour the president as his name will be mentioned worldwide
- Ghanaians have reacted to Sonnie Badu’s proposal with some agreeing while others think it is simply not necessary

US-based Ghanaian gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has proposed that the Kotoka International Airport should be renamed after the late former president Rawlings.
In a post he made on Instagram and sighted by YEN.com.gh, Badu says that move would honour the memory of the late president.
He added that Rawlings is a nice name and that having it mentioned JJ Rawlings International Airport, Accra, would be pleasing to the ear worldwide.

His post has received many reactions with some agreeing with his proposal while others would not buy into it.
Shenrylm, Siawzy, Betty, and Jimoh, for instance, agreed with Sonnie Badu:

mc_siawzy: “Yes He was my role model RIP sir.”
bettysylmich: “Yes it will be a good idea, when I was a child, I heard heroic stories about Jerry Rawlings of Ghana.”
_jimohkayzeez: “And so it shall come to pass Papa...for the lord will grant the heartfelt wish of His Son... Farewell JJ RAWLINGS.”
Prince disagreed, explaining that the late president himself did not like such honours:

Flexmen explained that such a move will only lead to another version of political issues since everything in Ghana has been polarized now:

Meanwhile, a video of a young man looking just like Rawlings has greatly surprised Ghanaians.
From head to toe, the way he walks, his mannerisms, and stature looks just like Rawlings.
This had led to the conclusion that the young man could be another son of the former president.
Also, a 52-year-old woman has claimed that she is also the daughter of the former president.
Some people have believed this too as they say she looks like Rawlings' mother following a photo that was released.
