A 23-year-old Nigerian man identified as Iniongun Victor has further proven that youths in the country are industrious.
The young man combines schooling with furniture-making after learning the trade from his father in 2017, Daily Trust reports.
Victor, who is studying public administration at the Benue State University, Makurdi, said it is not easy to juggle school and work but he finds fulfilment in the fact that he's able to fend for himself.
The 200-level student whose shop is at police barracks road in Adeke, Makurdi, said he makes furniture for all classes of people.
In his words:
“I came here because I hear that the area is just opening up for building development and that there were no artisans (furniture makers) doing my kind of work around. Though my expectations of the location haven’t reached the peak, my old customers are, however, still patronising me.
“I rented the shop here at N50,000. I am making enough money to be self-reliant. I don’t depend on my parents for my school needs."
He advised young people to be industrious rather than stay idle, adding that government jobs are frustrating these days.
In other news, a student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Anwuli Onwochie, finally launched her garri business called The garri geh.
Before the interview she granted YEN.com.gh in 2019 went viral, the young girl sold garri in the evening and sometimes during school hour.
According to her, she would take the number of wraps ordered with her to school and have it delivered to the buyers.
The interview opened doors for Anwuli as many people who were impressed with her business contacted her and she made massive sales in a short period of time.
