President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made some new appointments in his new administration.

He has appointed former Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo as a Senior Presidential Advisor.

Osafo-Maafo served as a Senior Minister in President Akufo-Addo's first tenure.

According to a report filed by Graphic online, he retired and chose to remain in the background in the second term but disclosed his new role on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, while addressing the Birim Central Municipal Assembly.

According to Osafo-Maafo, President Akufo-Addo appointed him last week.

From 1997 to 2009, Osafo-Maafo represented the people of Akyem Oda for three terms in Ghana's parliament.

Between 2001 and 2007, he served as the Minister of Finance and Education under the administration of former president John Agyekum Kufuor.

The National Public Sector Reform Strategy, which is to be implemented between 2018 and 2023 was prepared under his tutelage.

His office as Senior Minister was instrumental in the implementation of the government's Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.

In other news, the legislator for the Manso Adubia Constituency in the Ashanti Region has threatened to resign should the president fail in fixing bad roads and constructing new ones in his constituency.

Speaking at a radio station in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Frimpong Addo further warned that he will not put his energies into campaigning for the party in the 2024 elections if untarred roads are not fixed by that time.

“If roads remain as they are – untarred – I will resign. I will not even bother contesting for the NPP in 2024,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament is confident the Akufo-Addo administration will do everything possible to achieve all campaign promises as he declares 2021 as the year of roads.

Still on politics, former President John Dramani Mahama will be the National Democratic Congress’ presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections, Sammy Gyamfi has disclosed.

According to Gyamfi who is the NDC’s National Communications Director, the former president will be the flagbearer “by hook or crook.”

Gyamfi disclosed this while addressing students at the University of Cape Coast as filed by Ghanaweb.
