Takoradi: Police put Ghs10,000 bounty on killers of 61-year-old Switzerland ‘borger’

- The Western Region Police have placed a bounty on the killers of a Ghanaian based in Switzerland

- The man was returning from the bank with his wife in their private vehicle when armed men approached and shot him

- They made away with the undisclosed money he withdrew from the bank

Police in the Western Region have placed a Ghs10,000 bounty on the killers of Charles Kwakye.

Kwakye, the 61-year-old Ghanaian based in Switzerland, was shot by six armed men in the presence of his wife, Monica Nda, leading to his death.

They were attacked by armed men on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Amanful, a suburb of Takoradi.

The couple who went to the bank to withdraw some money were trailed by the robbers after leaving the bank premises in their private car.

They encountered the men upon reaching Amanful East when the robbers on motorbikes demanded that they handed over the cash.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Felix Fosu Agyeman, said the bounty will be given to any individual or group that will provide credible information leading to the arrest of the robbers

“We have intensified our operations after the recent armed robbery attacks, we have increased both day and night patrols.
“We have also adopted stop and search of both motorbikes and vehicles while urging them to cooperate with the police,” he added.

He urged residents to be security conscious in their daily activities.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported about the robbery which was captured on video and the video shared on Facebook, sparking massive reactions and comments.

It's we the downtrodden folks who stupidly allow this to happen through the useless politics we do.”
