The likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, etc are the rappers are who are making the big money in the rap game.

In Ghana, the country can boast of many talented rappers who one way the other have carved a niche for themselves.

Reggie Rockstone after relocating to Ghana from New York changed secular music with his rapping skills.

Ex Doe, Chicago, Tinny, Ayigbe Edem all surfaced as they showcased their talent with the kind of hip-hop songs they released.

Then there comes Sarkodie, who has an outstanding talent as he took Ghana to the world.

Sarkodie won Ghana's first BET Award and he has many international awards under his sleeves.

Many young rappers in Ghana are now fusing hiplife in hip-hop and the likes of Kwesi Arthur, Medikal, etc are getting good reviews and commendations.

Though Sarkodie has not retired from music, he has paid his dues and there is one young talent who is touted to be on his way to take up the mantle from the rapper.

His name is Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, known by his stage name, Yaw Tog.

He is a native of Santasi in Kumasi and a student of the Opoku Ware Senior High School.

Yaw Tog is an 18-year old student who lives with his mum and sisters.

In an era of the global recognition of drill music following the death of Pop Smoke, Yaw Tog went viral with his song, Sore, which translates Rise and featured colleagues O‘Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie, and Jay Bahd.

The song peaked at Number 1 on the Apple Music Ghana Top 100 chart for weeks.

His growth scored him a co-sign deal with Stormzy and they both partnered Kwesi Arthur to drop the remix of the song.

Jack Grealish, captain of EPL's Aston Villa in an Instagram post was seen jamming to the Sore Remix.

In February 2021, he was nominated for 3 awards at the 2021 3Music Awards; Breakthrough Artiste of the Year, Viral Song of the Year, and Hip-hop Song of the Year. During the awards night, he won the Hip pop Song of the year award.

On April 9, 2021, he was announced by BET International as their April BET Amplified International Artist of The Month.

With his age and his outstanding talent, Yaw Tog can be seen as another Sarkodie who is likely to become the next music star to bring glory to the country.
