An international Ghanaian student, Dr Andrew Asante, has earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from the University of Florida in the United States.

The native of Nkwakaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana previously bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, graduating with distinction (4.0) from the Alabama State University in 2017 before heading to Florida to pursue the pharmacy programme.

Asante was able to realise his dream of studying in the US through the help of a childhood friend.

In a post sighted on his LinkedIn page, Asante recounted his journey to earning the Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

''At the University of Florida College of Pharmacy – I came, I served, I Grew. It has been a wonderful four-year journey in pharmacy school and I am grateful to my family, friends, faculty, and mentors,'' he said.

Asante added: ''Pharmacy school is rewarding but can be very challenging. But as Friedrich Nietzsche encouraged us: ‘He who has a why to live can bear with almost anyhow. Find your reason to keep working on your goals and the impossible will be possible!''

After years of hard work, Asante graduated with honours, receiving the Dean's Excellence Award, Student Ambassador Award for outstanding service, and a Leadership Professional Certificate.

In a separate story, the general manager of Citi FM/TV, Bernard Koku Avle, has received a brand new car as a birthday present from the chief executive officer of Citi FM/TV, Samuel Atta Mensah.

Avle who is also the host of the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM clocked 40 years old on May 20, 2021.
