Woman wearing 'mayafi' caught stealing GHc 2.2k at Okaishie Market

- The woman had entered a crowded shop pretending to purchase an item when she smartly took the bundle of cash

- Unknown to her, she was recorded by a CCTV camera that was later played to identify her

A woman dressed like a Muslim has been arrested at the Okaishie Market in Accra for stealing GHc 2,259 from another woman who had come to buy at a shop.

The SV TV Africa team who happened to be at the location when the incident happened interviewed some eyewitnesses who lent credence to the allegation.

According to one of them, the woman had come to the crowded shop under the pretence of making a purchase when she smartly removed the bundle of money that the victim was carrying.

She was not immediately spotted by anyone and was able to get away from the shop safely but the victim realised her money was gone and launched a complaint instantly.

Soon enough, CCTV footage that was being recorded in the shop was played and the moment the suspect took out the money was seen.

Later, the suspect was identified by one of the individuals who saw the footage, took the money from her, and reported her to the authorities for further action to be taken.
