Fuel tanker catches fire at Weija (Video)

- The fire caused heavy traffic jam on the Weija-Kasoa highway

- It forced drivers to flee their private cars in the middle of the road

It was a scary moment and horrendous scene when hundreds of passengers and pedestrians had to battle for their lives after a fuel taker burst into flames at Weija near Accra.

According to reports, the incident happened around 7pm yesterday along the Weija-Kasoa main highway.

Reports say the fuel tanker which was moving in traffic all of a sudden caught fire in the middle of the road, forcing many commercial passengers, pedestrians and other occupants of private vehicles to flee their cars in battle for their lives.

A video shared by Yen.com.gh ardent user, Dauglas Anane Frimpong shows the burning fuel tanker in a scary scene as fire officers battle the fire.

The inferno which lasted for over an hour was said to have caused heavy traffic jam along the route leaving travelers stranded in their bid to reach their various homes.

Though the immediate cause of the fire is yen not known, some fire officers who were at the scene are yet to report on the frightening fire outbreak.
