The Asantehene’s daughter, Ohemaa Afia Kobi, known in private life as Dr Caryn Agyemang Prempeh, evoked sadness online as she wept bitterly during the Asantehemaa’s funeral.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa, died at 98 years of age on August 7, 2025.

She was the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and held the position for eight years before her death.

Her final funeral rites commenced on September 14 and are expected to culminate in her burial, which has been scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Royal Mausoleum in Breman.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, the Asantehene’s daughter, Ohemaa Afia Kobi, wept bitterly as she mourned her late relative.

Dressed in simple mourning cloth and with no makeup, she appeared inconsolable over the Asantehemaa’s death.

The video of Ohemaa’s weeping went viral on social media, eliciting numerous reactions of sympathy.
