Controversial Ghanaian political commentator Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium, showed off his English-speaking skills in a video uploaded days after refusing to speak the language on Starr FM.

Appiah Stadium stirred controversy in Ghana on Friday, September 12, 2025, after he refused to speak English despite calling into the English-speaking station, Starr FM.

He insisted that he wanted to speak Twi as English was not his language and he could not speak it.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh on TikTok on September 18, Appiah Stadium was seen in the streets of Malta where he is currently based.

The political commentator announced that he was briefly in Malta for a conference and was headed to Germany shortly after.

Appiah Stadium was seen surrounded by several Maltese teens and conversed with them in English.

He asked them about the football clubs they supported and also about their thoughts on dark-skinned people.

Before departing, Appiah Stadium stirred laughter among the group as he attempted to ask them for directions to the nearest McDonald's restaurant.

Appiah Stadium refuses to speak English on-air

The video showing Appiah Stadium speaking English with some teens in Malta emerged a week after he refused to speak the language on Ghanaian radio.

The controversial political commentator called into Morning Starr, hosted by Naa Dedei Tettey on Starr FM in Accra and blasted her for addressing him in English.

He said he could not speak the language and insisted she speak Twi, but she responded that she could not speak Twi either.
