Two sons of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, grabbed the spotlight as they appeared together at the final funeral rites of the Asantehemaa.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who was the 14th Asantehemaa, died on August 7, 2025. She was 98.

The late Asantehemaa was the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and his last living sibling.

She ascended to the position on February 6, 2017, after the death of the 13th Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. She remained in the position for eight years until her death.

Her final funeral rites commenced on September 14 and continued for five days, with her burial scheduled at the Royal Mausoleum in Breman on the evening of Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Otumfuo’s sons storm Asantehemaa’s funeral

Two of the Asantehene’s seven children, Oheneba Nana Kwaku Duah and Nana Opoku Ware, appeared at Manhyia Palace during the final funeral rites of the Asantehemaa.

They appeared dressed in simple mourning cloths but radiated splendour and grace.

Nana Kwaku Duah appeared to be in a more pleasant mood as he exchanged pleasantries with other mourners, while Nana Opoku Ware was in a more sombre mood.

The video of Otumfuo’s children at Manhyia Palace stirred online reactions, with many Ghanaians praising the duo for their handsomeness and quiet grace.
