Lil Win Fined GH¢10,000 by Supreme Court Over Absence in Martha Ankomah Defamation Case

The Supreme Court has fined Lil Win GH¢10,000 for alleged disrespect against the Apex Court amid his case with Martha Ankomah.

On February 14, 2024, actress Martha Ankomah sued her colleague for GH₵5 million at the High Court in Accra for alleged defamation after comments he made about her in a viral video.

In the video, Lil Win angrily alleged that Martha Ankomah told movie director Frank Fiifi Gharbin that the local language industry, Kumawood, did not produce sensible movies, and she was uninterested in working with them.

Considered as one of the top names in the film sector, Lil Win angrily lashed out at her, accusing her of being disrespectful and making several other inflammatory and allegedly derogatory comments.

Lil Win reneges on Martha Ankomah settlement

In February 2025, Lil Win and Martha Ankomah’s legal teams reportedly settled to finally conclude the case.

However, the actor reportedly refused to honour the agreement over the next few months and attempted new legal manoeuvrings to delay the case.

During a hearing on April 1, 2025, when the actor was supposed to present an apology to the judge for approval as part of the settlement, neither he nor his legal team showed up.

The situation led the High Court to issue Lil Win a final warning on April 15 to appear before the court or face consequences.

He subsequently filed other legal challenges, leading the case to end up at the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court fines Lil Win over disrespect

After failing to honour the terms of the High Court settlement, Lil Win filed a case challenging the jurisdiction of the case taking place in Accra instead of Kumasi.

After his motion was dismissed, he filed for a stay of proceedings at the Appeal Court pending his appeal of that decision, which was also dismissed.

He took his stay of proceedings case to the Supreme Court, with the court date set for March 31, 2026.

According to Starr FM, neither Lil Win nor his lawyers showed up for the case, angering the Supreme Court panel, who ruled to award costs of GH¢10,000 to the plaintiffs, describing Lil Win’s conduct as disrespectful.

The actor's no-show came after reportedly making progress in reaching another settlement with Martha Ankomah amid their long-running case.

Lil Win causes stir with DNA claim

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that Lil Win sparked outrage on social media after claiming that he discovered he was not the father of one of his children, only to later retract the statement.

The actor claimed in a video that a DNA test found that one of his children was not his biological child, but later claimed he was speaking about a movie and had been misquoted by the media.
