The Kwame-Danso Police Station in the Sene West District has been shut down after a mob of angry youth attacked both police officers and judicial service personnel during a court proceeding on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCoP) Shaibu Abubakari Sadique-Osei, the Bono East Regional Police Commander, confirmed the closure in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Techiman, saying the attack unfolded as officers were arraigning a suspect before a court at Kwame-Danso.

DCoP Sadique-Osei described the incident as unfortunate while noting that the police had since restored order in the area. He did not disclose details about the suspect, the nature of the case, the number of officers injured, or the identities of those involved in the attack.
The commander stressed that effective policing depended on the cooperation of communities and called on residents to support law enforcement rather than obstruct or assault personnel carrying out their duties. "Modern policing was a collective responsibility," he said, urging the public to assist rather than undermine efforts to maintain law and order.
DCoP Sadique-Osei said the regional command was in active discussions with Police Headquarters in Accra regarding the conditions for reopening the station. He appealed to residents of Kwame-Danso to remain calm and law-abiding as those talks continued.
He also reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service's commitment to protecting lives and property, making clear that the closure was a direct consequence of the assault on personnel and not a withdrawal of policing services from the district.
No timeline for the station's reopening was given at the time of publication.
