The principal further stated the team’s conduct was unacceptable.

"They did not conduct themselves with sportsmanship or integrity and the final score was unacceptable," the statement read.

By halftime, the Inglewood High School team was up 83-0. The team scored 23 more points in the second half.

No need to apologise

However, many netizens saw no issue with the scoreline, with others saying there was no need for Principal Tate to apologise.

Here are some of the comments:

“The other team didn’t quit, what’s the deal? Sometimes you get clobbered, that’s sports.”

@daisythedog_sf:

“Don’t. Period. Why apologise for being good? Sorry the other team isn’t. If it’s so lopsided then play in a different division.”

@agerace20:

“They're built different. Don't punish the champs.”

@dimitrikatsa:

“They should apologise for not scoring more!”

@diymusicbiz:

“106 to 0? Sounds like a new coach is needed.”
