A Ghanaian father of two based in the United Kingdom has been found dead in heartbreaking fashion.

Samuel Acquah, a nurse at the Southend University Hospital, passed away at his home on Monday, August 18, 2025.

He failed to turn up at work, leading colleagues to his home, where they found him deceased

Acquah reportedly travelled to the United Kingdom after working for years as a head theatre nurse in Ghana.

He is survived by a wife and two children, whom he was reportedly preparing to bring to the UK to join him.

Colleagues remember Samuel Acquah after his death

Friends and colleagues of the deceased Ghanaian remembered him as a kind individual with a warm smile who worked hard to provide a better life for his family.

One of his friends, Basintale Abel Edmond, started a GoFundMe to raise funds to send his body back to Ghana.

“Samuel came from Ghana to serve as a nurse at the Southend University hospital, dedicating his life to caring for others and bringing comfort to those in need. His kindness, smile, hard work, and warm spirit touched everyone who knew him. His untimely passing has left his family, friends, and colleagues heartbroken,” the fundraiser said.
“In line with his family’s wishes and cultural traditions, we are raising funds to repatriate Samuel’s body back to Ghana so that he may be laid to rest in his homeland.”

The GoFundMe has raised close to £10,000 out of a £25,000 goal.

Ghanaian student dies in Latvia

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that a Ghanaian student died in Latvia under mysterious circumstances, leading his family to demand justice.

Nana Agyei Oduro Ahyia was found dead on June 4 after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of his apartment on Baznīcas Street in Riga.
