In a video spotted on social media, an unnamed Ghanaian nurse based abroad decided to address her colleagues in the same profession with a mix of concern and candour.
The young lady spoke about the critical issue of public perception and trust in Ghanaian nurses compared to professional doctors.
Her statement comes in light of the controversial Rejoice Tsotsoo Bortei, who filed a monetary-value lawsuit against activist Ralph Saint Williams.
According to her, he had physically assaulted and defamed her by calling her a liar. Because of this, the Ridge Hospital nurse went on to sue him for GH¢7 million in total.
She had sought GH¢5 million in damages for battery and GH¢2 million for defamation. In addition, Rejoice sought a full public apology and retraction from St Williams.

In response to this, the nurse based abroad explained that the reason many Ghanaians do not respect nurses is that they may have lost trust in nurses' capabilities. She said, as such, trust should be restored if anything is to return to normal.
She also referred to the claim of the nurse complaining about fractures in her wrist and a dislocation in her shoulder joint. However, according to the medical assessment, there was no evidence of injuries on her body as she had claimed.
