Bright Asamoah Brefo, the Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, has made headlines for his huge donations to the students across his constituency.

As part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning in the various schools under his leadership, the MP donated 10,000 branded exercise books and 5,000 pens to his students.
Speaking during a presentation, the legislator stressed that education must not be taken for granted, as it is through education that communities thrive. He identified education as a collective effort of the teachers who inspire, leaders who guide, parents who support, and children who dare to dream.

Brefo also noted that the destinies of nations have often been shaped by nothing more than paper and ink. He explained that when a child opens one of the donated books, they are not only filling pages but also shaping a future full of possibilities.
He further encouraged parents and teachers to ensure the materials are used effectively to spark curiosity and promote a culture of reading and writing at home.

Weighing in, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II, the President of the National House of Chiefs and Omanhene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, expressed gratitude to the MP for responding diligently to the needs of the pupils.
He also appealed to companies, individuals, and other stakeholders to contribute towards improving education in the area. The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Richard Boateng, also commended Mr Brefo’s continuous support for education in the constituency.

John Dumelo makes donations to vulnerable students
In a similar story, YEN.com.gh reported that John Dumelo, the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture and MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, donated 500 bags of 5kg rice to support financially vulnerable students at the University of Ghana, Legon, some months ago.
The donation was presented through the Dean of Students, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, as part of the university’s Food Bank initiative launched in 2023 to assist students struggling with meals. He announced on his Facebook page with the caption:
"This morning, I donated 500 5kg bags of rice to the University of Ghana through the Dean of Students, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen. The food bank initiative was launched by UG to help financially vulnerable students who find it hard to sometimes have 3 square meals on campus. #idey4u."
Social media users widely praised Dumelo’s gesture, with many describing him as a caring leader and a future presidential material.

Helicopter crash victims: GLICO donates to families
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that GLICO General Insurance honoured its commitment by paying out to two insured ministers killed in the helicopter tragedy.
Beyond contractual duties, the company donated GH¢2 million to the families of six other victims who did not have coverage.
Many have commended the insurance company for its commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of Ghanaians.
