Kwesi Nyantakyi's 5 great achievements during his days as GFA president
Former Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantayi, will now be out of football related activities till he dies following FIFA’s life-time ban.
Nyantakyi, who is a lawyer by profession was given a bitter pill to swallow after Anas Aremeyaw Anas ‘Number 12’ captured him extorting monies from potential investors using President Nana Akufo-Addo’s name.
However, after FIFA’s assessment on the issue, Nyantakyi who celebrated his 50th birthday three days ago was handed a life-time ban - he was also fined $450,000.

Nyantakyi became the GFA president in 2005 and during his days in office, he made some achievements.

1. 2006 World Cup
Qualifying for the World Cup was Ghana’s biggest problem until Kwesi Nyantakyi came into the scene in 2005.
After taking over from Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Nyantakyi achieved his target by qualifying Ghana to the World Cup in 2006, it was the first time in the history of the nation.
In the said tourney, the Black Stars made it to the round of 16.

2. 2009 U-20 World Cup
When it comes U-20 World Cup no African country has ever won it. But under the watch of Kwesi Nyantakyi, Ghana became the first African country to achieve that feat after beating Brazil in the finals.
3. 2010 World Cup
After Ghana’s impressive outing in their first World Cup. The Black Stars sealed their qualification to the mundial again. This time Ghana made it to the quarter finals.

4. 2011 All-Africa Games
The national U-23 football team of Ghana claimed Gold in the football event for the first time since the event started 20 years ago.
5. Establishment of the GFA headquarters
Before Kwesi Nyantakyi became the GFA president, the association never had their own office. Due to Nyantakyi’s working relationship with FIFA, the association benefited from FIFA’s Goal Project which some of the money was used to build the GFA secretariat.
