Donald Trump: When Incoming US President Spoke About Cristiano Ronaldo

All signs now show that Donald Trump will be returning to the White House after a historic victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 US elections.

Trump gave his victory speech before a rousing crowd at his campaign headquarters in Florida. It hasn't been made official yet, but at the time of writing, the former President was four shy of the magic 270 number.

Donald Trump projected to win US Presidency

Once confirmed, Trump will be the 47th President of the United States, replacing Joe Biden, whom he lost to in 2020. Biden opted not to seek re-election, fronting his deputy, Harris, instead.

Away from his controversial rallies, action-packed sentiments and hard-line stance, the former talk show host previously waded into football and discussed Cristiano Ronaldo.

In 2018, while meeting Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa at the White House, Trump called the Real Madrid legend, 'the greatest-ever'

"They say he is the greatest player," as quoted by CNN.

De Sousa then heaped praise on his country's icon, who has transcended the sport with his achievements.

"I’m very much impressed. He’s the best player in the world. A success for the world."

Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi?

Ronaldo fans have often been embroiled in the never-ending debate with Lionel Messi fans on who is better than the other. Messi has since racked up a couple more Ballon d'Or and the 2022 World Cup trophy, and it would be interesting to hear if Trump has revised sentiments.

The former President also mentioned that his youngest son, Barron, knows all about Ronaldo.

Athletes who supported Donald Trump

YEN.com.gh had earlier made a list of the athletes who had endorsed Donald Trump for the presidency.

Trump received backing from notable athletes led by professional boxer Jake Paul among others.
