Cristiano Ronaldo put his Saudi Super Cup setback behind him by finding the net in Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League opener against Al Taawoun.

With Jorge Jesus making several adjustments to his side, Al Nassr kicked off the new campaign with intent and confidence.

Despite their recent defeat to Al Ahli, the team responded strongly, with João Félix striking early to hand them the lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo doubled Al Nassr’s advantage with a composed penalty to cap off a well-worked move.

Kingsley Coman sparked the attack down the right, linking up with Nawaf Boushal, whose cross forced a handball inside the box.

Ronaldo confidently converted from the spot past Abdulquddus Atiah, showcasing Al Nassr’s dominance under Jorge Jesus, whose high-pressing system continues to shape the team’s identity.

Al Nassr’s intensity has given them a clear physical edge, with Mohamed Simakan marshalling the backline to great effect.

In midfield, Angelo’s distribution has complemented Marcelo Brozovic’s control, keeping play fluid and balanced.

Ronaldo and Al-Nassri were defeated in the final of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup by Al-Ahli on penalties last Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr goals

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023, instantly becoming the world’s highest-paid athlete.

In his first full season, he scored 35 goals in the 2023/24 campaign, breaking the Saudi Pro League’s single-season record previously set by Abderrazak Hamdallah (34 in 2019).

His brace in the final against rivals Al Hilal also delivered Al Nassr their first-ever Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.

Since arriving in Riyadh, Ronaldo has been relentless in front of goal, netting 75 times in 79 league appearances and 101 goals in 115 games across all competitions.

He hit his 100th goal for the club in the 2025 Saudi Super Cup final against Al Ahli in Hong Kong, becoming the only player in football history to score 100 goals for four different clubs.
