Fiorentina’s challenging start to the season took another hit following a home defeat to Como, where the team initially took the lead but allowed their concentration to slip before regaining some control.
The disappointment didn’t end with the result because Ghanaian wing-back Tariq Lamptey was forced off the pitch in the 20th minute with a knee injury.

According to Pazzi Di Fanta, the incident occurred when the Black Stars player attempted to collect the ball, landing awkwardly and immediately feeling severe pain in his left knee.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion player was then quickly replaced by Fortini, leaving fans concerned about the severity of the injury.

Per the same source, subsequent medical tests revealed an isolated tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Lamptey’s left knee.
The injury required reconstructive surgery, which was performed successfully under the supervision of Professor Mariani.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina confirmed that Lamptey has returned to Florence to begin his rehabilitation program.
As with most ACL injuries, the winger faces a long road to recovery, with an expected absence of at least four months.
This means he is unlikely to return to action before January, marking a difficult start to life in Serie A for the 24-year-old talent, who has only made two appearances totalling 25 minutes so far.
Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli now faces the challenge of navigating a demanding fixture schedule without Lamptey, who was part of Otto Addo's Ghana squad in the recent World Cup 2026 qualifiers matches against Chad and Mali.

The team’s next test is the Tuscan derby against Pisa on Sunday, September 28, at the Arena Garibaldi. To provide some context, both teams enter this match still searching for their first league victory after four games into the new season, making this encounter particularly tight.

This will be followed by a Conference League clash with Sigma Olomouc and crucial Serie A matches against Roma at home and AC Milan away at San Siro.
Lamptey’s absence compounds a period of struggles for the Viola, but the club will hope that his rehabilitation progresses smoothly and that the team can rally in his absence during the demanding early months of the campaign.
