Just a day after leading Medeama SC to a commanding win over Vision FC in the Ghana Premier League, Ibrahim Tanko celebrated a special milestone off the pitch.

The victory at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium had lifted Medeama three points clear at the top of the league table, making the weekend even more memorable.
The former Accra Lions coach has quickly made his mark at Medeama SC, transforming the team into early-season title contenders with back-to-back victories in their opening two matches of the 2025/26 campaign.
Tanko’s bright start, however, will see its momentum briefly interrupted, as his honeymoon period comes to an end due to pressing club activities with Medeama.
The coach is expected to swiftly rejoin the squad as preparations begin for a challenging away clash against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
That fixture is already shaping up to be a crucial test for Medeama, who are determined to maintain their early lead in the Ghana Premier League title race.
Ibrahim Tanko eyes league title
Following Medeama’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Vision FC, head coach Tanko praised his players for their dominant display, but stressed that focus will be key if they are to sustain success this season.
“Today we did everything right and we have our three points,” Tanko said after the match in Tarkwa via 3Sports.
"But we have to concentrate throughout the 90 minutes. At some point we dropped energy and it’s not good.”
The victory kept Medeama top of the Ghana Premier League with two wins, six goals scored, and none conceded, yet Tanko warned that consistency is vital:
“We have to continue working hard because the season is still young. I said it at the beginning of the season, we are one of the teams that can win the league, but we have a lot of work to do.”
