The 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations has reached the knockout stage, with all four quarter-final fixtures confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage.

Ghana's Black Queens were the final side to book their place in the last eight, securing a 1-1 draw against Mali in their final group match.

Evelyn Badu opened the scoring after getting on the end of a Comfort Yeboah cross, but Mali levelled through a free-kick from Kadidiatou Diabate. Ghana held firm from that point to advance.

How the 8 WAFCON quarter-finalists were decided

Morocco topped Group A, with Algeria claiming the second spot from that section.

Ivory Coast won Group B, while South Africa joined them in the last eight courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso on the final day of group fixtures.

Group C produced the most complicated scenario of the tournament. Malawi, Nigeria and Zambia all finished the group stage level on six points, forcing tournament officials to apply a rarely used CAF head-to-head rule to separate the three sides.

That regulation ultimately favoured tournament debutants Malawi and record holders Nigeria, both of whom advanced.

Cameroon secured their quarter-final berth earlier in the competition, confirming their progress with a 1-0 win over Ghana before the final round of Group D fixtures.

Ghana needed only a draw against Mali to join them, which they duly delivered.

Ivory Coast will face Algeria in the opening knockout fixture on Saturday, August 8, as the West Africans take on an improved Fennecs side.

Later that same day, hosts Morocco meet South Africa in a rematch of the 2022 WAFCON final, widely regarded as the standout tie of the round.

Cameroon versus Nigeria carries enormous historical weight, pairing two of the most storied nations in the history of the competition.

It is worth noting that Cameroon lost the 2014 and 2016 WAFCON final to Nigeria's Super Falcons, adding an extra edge to the contest.

Ghana and Malawi will conclude the quarter-final matchups, meeting for the second time within weeks, having previously played a 4-0 friendly as part of Ghana's WAFCON preparations.

Despite that result, Malawi's Group C performance, which included a victory over Nigeria, suggests the Southern African debutants will enter the tie with genuine confidence.

Beyond semi-final qualification, all eight remaining sides are competing for automatic berths at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.

All four winners of the quarter-final ties will secure direct qualification, adding significant weight to each of the four upcoming fixtures.
