Importance of a WAEC Ghana index number

A WAEC index number is used by the West African Examinations Council to manage examination information. It helps candidates to access their examination results online, confirm their credentials, and verify their certificates through the WAEC portal.

Every year, public senior high schools and private senior high schools approved by the Ghana Education Service and WAEC present candidates for WASSCE. Similarly, public and private junior high schools approved by the GES present candidates for BECE.

To get your WAEC Ghana index number, you must register for BECE or WASSCE. The examination centre (the school where you will sit your exams) is responsible for the registration process. Each candidate will be issued an index number they will use to access their results and confirm their certificates.
