This year, 2020 is an election and as the country prepares to go to the polls, several political parties will begin pushing their campaign promises through several songs.

Mostly, these politicians employ the services of some top Ghanaian musicians to compose several catchy songs for them to use throughout the campaign period.
Some musicians also go out of their way to personally endorse these politicians and compose songs for them.
Some of the songs are timeless and they pop up every election year to be used for campaigning during the entire election period.

Some unforgettable songs heavily influenced the political scene in the country over the years.
YEN.com.gh brings you six songs which you are likely to start hearing on your radio and at political rallies this year.

1. Mahama Paper
Ghanaian Dancehall king, Shattawale released a love song titled 'Mahama Paper' ahead of the 2016 elections. But since the song had John Dramani Mahama mentioned several times, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) massively used it as one of the campaign songs prior to the 2016 elections.

The NDC contracted Dee Aja in 2016 to compose a song for then-candidate John Dramani Mahama which became the official campaign for the NDC in 2016. The song became so popular that Dee Aja was invited to several entertainment events to perform.
3. Nana Winner
Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, popularly known as DL was also commissioned by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012 to compose a campaign song for then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo. The song became a sudden hit and continues to be one of the best campaign songs for the NPP
4. Monto ma Nana Addo
Veteran gospel musician, Great Ampong in 2012 composed this song for the NPP and candidate Nana Addo Akufo-Addo.
5. Woyome Woyome
Using the famous Alfred Agbesi Woyome judgment debt case against the then ruling party the NDC, members of the NPP composed this song which was played and sang by party members at all times during the 2012 elections
6. John Mahama Dey Be
The NDC contracted Dee Aja in 2012 to compose this song which also became an instant hit during the elections. Party officials play this song any time we get into the political season.
